A recent two-day audit has seen butcher, Aubrey Allen Ltd. achieve ‘higher level’ status in the UKAS approved standard for the catering industry.
At the start of this year, the National Association of Catering Butchers (NACB) brought in a new, more robust, UKAS approved standard for the catering industry.
The new standard is said to give reassurance to the industry on food safety, HACCP (hazard analysis and critical control point), product integrity, environmental and ethical quality assurance systems.
The audit for Aubrey Allen was recently carried out by SAI Global on behalf of the NACB.
Alan Healy, operations director at Aubrey Allen, commented: “We are delighted that we have been awarded ‘higher level’ status. Whilst these audits do take time, we believe they are important and necessary to raise standards in food safety.
“Achieving ‘higher level’ status is the result of hard work and dedication by Kevin Ball our technical manager and Niels Donders, production manager, who together with their teams ensure that these standards are met and maintained at all times.”
Aubrey Allen supplies meat to over 400 restaurants and pubs throughout the UK, and also has a retail shop based in Leamington Spa.
