The UK meat industry’s biggest and most important awards ceremony and dinner will take place on 28th June at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, and will once again be a major highlight in the meat trade annual calendar.
The Awards are set to attract over 400 guests from right across the meat trade and will see the best from the UK meat sector rewarded for their products, innovation and service.Attendees at the black-tie networking event will be treated to an excellent dinner and then entertained by comedian and actor Miles Jupp, who will co-host the Awards presentation.
With the dinner date fast approaching, Awards organiser Emma Cash is urging potential guests to secure their seat for the Awards ceremony now, as tickets are selling fast.
Emma commented: “The Meat Management Industry Awards are so important for our industry, and present a fantastic and established annual occasion where like-minded and hard-working individuals, come together to celebrate excellence and to reward those who put their all into providing the finest services and products in the UK meat sector. It’s brilliant for networking and meeting friends and colleagues.”
As usual last year’s winners included some of the meat industry’s biggest names, including Cranswick, Marks & Spencer and Dawn Meats.
Marks & Spencer picked up the Supermarket / Multiple Meat Retailer of the Year Award in 2016 and Stuart Henderson, trading manager for Meat, Fish & Poultry at the retailer, commented at the time: “We are absolutely delighted to receive the Supermarket of the Year Award. It’s a great honour to achieve such a prestigious award as it highlights the quality, high welfare standards and variety that we are proud to offer our customers.”
Richard Taylor, managing director at Owen Taylor & Sons Ltd which won The Catering Butcher Award last year, was equally enthusiastic, saying:
“This is a respected award in the industry and it is testament to the efforts put in by our staff and our suppliers that we can achieve such quality service for our customers.”
Over the years the Meat Management Industry Awards have been partnered by many of the most high-profile suppliers, companies and trade associations from across the sector, including AHDB Beef and Lamb, Weddel Swift Distribution Ltd, SealedAir, Marel, Reiser UK, Handtmann and Coolkit, to name only a handful.
Richard Field of Weddel Swift Distribution, commented on last year’s Awards: “Weddel Swift takes pride in partnering the Meat Management Industry Awards. The event celebrates the culmination of all the hard work and innovation that has taken place in our industry during the year.”
SF Engineering managing director, Seamus Farrell, added that his company was proud to partner the Young Manager of the Year Award, saying: “It is fundamental to the future growth of the meat industry to recognise the achievements of these individuals”.
