The team at Meat Management magazine couldn’t think of a better place to take a lunchtime break in the run-up to UK Sausage Week than at the Super Sausage Cafe in Potterspury.

A favourite of bikers travelling on the A5 through Northamptonshire, the Super Sausage Cafe made the perfect destination for a lunchtime excursion leading up to UK Sausage Week for Meat Management magazine editor Gwen Mostyn and deputy editor Natasha Howard.
The cafe is hard to miss as you drive by, with its black and white chequerboard styling and rows of bunting drawing diners into the diner-style interior. While the cafe has an extensive menu of crowd-pleasing favourites such as burgers, fish and chips, and a variety of all-day breakfast options, it was sausages all the way for us.
A feast for the senses
We ordered a small full English breakfast and the Super Sausage Cafe ‘Super Dog’, featuring three Cumberland sausages in a torpedo roll topped with bacon, cheese, fried onions and BBQ sauce before selecting our booth and taking a closer look at some of the retro album covers, artwork and motorcycling photographs and posters covering every inch of the walls.

The service was quick and friendly, and when our food arrived, it was clear that the ‘small’ English breakfast may have been the more sensible choice for a quick bite! The magnificent Super Dog certainly was a celebration of the Great British banger, and the generous portion was well worth taking time to enjoy. The sweet onions and smoky sauce complemented the hearty sausages for a super-satisfying combination. But perhaps a controversial one if you are a ketchup fan.
