Dr Jason Aldiss BEM BVSc MRCVS has been appointed executive director of AIMS.
Aldiss will take up his new role in January 2025.
John Thorley, chair of AIMS, said: “Dr Aldiss was selected after a rigorous selection process, emerging as the ideal candidate from a pool of exceptional individuals. His appointment marks a significant step forward for AIMS, as he will work alongside Norman Bagley, the organisation’s founder and current Head of Policy, to ensure AIMS continues to thrive and grow in the coming years.”
Norman Bagley, who established AIMS in 2001, has driven the organisation over the past 25 years. Under his leadership, AIMS said it had grown from a concept into ”one of the most effective and respected voices” within the UK meat industry.
While Bagley has expressed a desire to reduce hs day-to-day administrative and management duties, he will remain a “vital figure” within AIMS, offering insights and experience to members as they “navigate the challenges of an ever-evolving industry”.
“AIMS is renowned for its unwavering commitment to supporting its members, and I am excited to work closely with Norman to ensure that this tradition continues.”

Aldiss said: “I am truly honoured to have been selected as AIMS’ executive director. I look forward to building on the strong and robust foundation that Norman has established. AIMS is renowned for its unwavering commitment to supporting its members, and I am excited to work closely with Norman to ensure that this tradition continues, while also driving new growth and opportunities for the organisation.”
AIMS to continue to advocate for its members
AIMS said it would remain committed to its core mission of “providing robust representation and advocacy for its members”. As the meat industry faces ongoing challenges and opportunities, said AIMS, the organisation is well-positioned to adapt and continue delivering the “high level of support” its members have come to expect. With Dr Aldiss at the helm, the organisation said it is ready to navigate this next chapter with “confidence and strength”.
AIMS also said the transition represented not only continuity, but also an “exciting new phase” in AIMS’ evolution, ensuring that the organisation “remains a steadfast and dynamic voice” for the British meat sector.
