The product judging for the Food Management Today Industry Awards is currently taking place at Harper Adams University with over 300 products being cooked, tried and tested by the expert judging panel.
The judges will work their way through the products over the next few days, narrowing the entries down to a shortlist of highly commended and finalists until the best of the best have been selected as winners.
Meat Management and Food Management Today editor, Emily Ansell Elfer, is amongst the judging panel and said: “We have received entries from all the major multiples, food manufacturers, the foodservice sector and independent retailers. The standard seems to get higher and higher every year and I am pleased to see the meat industry has come out in force to support the event and showcase its latest innovations.”
Chief judge Keith Fisher is once again heading up the panel of food experts and is also impressed by the standard of this year’s entries.
He commented: "I am delighted to be a part of this product judging and to see the awards go from strength to strength every year. We are definitely seeing more of a variety of products coming through this year and have been met with some really interesting innovations. Selecting the winners will be no easy task."
Once the verdicts and votes are in, the awards organising team will be planning the final touches for the Food Management Today Industry Awards Luncheon where the winners will be presented with their trophies and certificates.
The event is always a sell-out and 2017’s lunch is expected to be no different, with celebrity chef and broadcaster John Torode of BBC MasterChef fame playing host.
