A liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Butchers and past BDCI festival chairman, Roach founded the successful pork business, which sold pre-packed bacon and cooked meat products to supermarkets across Europe, in 1960.

In 1999, Roach Foods merged with Dalehead Foods to form Flagship Foods Ltd, which became one of the leading pig meat processors in the UK. In 2004, Flagships Foods became part of the Danish Crown group of companies of which Tulip Ltd is a subsidiary. At this time Roach became executive director of Tulip. He was also vice chairman for the company.

In 2009, Roach was awarded the Meat Management Excellence Award for his services to the industry.

Roach was also a significant figure in steeplechase racehorsing. He owned the two-time Queen Mother Champion Chase winner, Viking Flagship.

He leaves a widow, Valerie, a son, Shaun, and daughters Tanya and Louise.
