Protein supplier Pilgrim’s Europe has completed a £6 million refurbishment at its Potton Farm in Cambridgeshire as part of a “major investment” in its UK poultry operations.
The Potton Farm site supplies chicken products for customers across the UK and export markets.
The refurbishment has seen “significant investment” across the farm, including the replacement of existing timber-framed poultry sheds with five larger steel-framed, clear-span, modern buildings.
The investment has reportedly increased the farm’s capacity by making more effective use of the site’s existing footprint. A redesigned site layout has also aimed to improve access and movement around the farm.
New ventilation and misting systems have been installed alongside feeding technologies, giving teams enhanced control over conditions within the buildings and helping the farm maintain standards of animal welfare and performance.
