Ingredients and equipment supplier Scobie & Junor Northern Ireland has celebrated 40 years at its Belfast site.

Scobie & Junor said that from its Mallusk headquarters it had continued to provide local meat businesses with everything they need to run, including ingredients, packaging, casings, elastic meat netting, machinery and workwear.
A spokesperson for Scobie & Junor stated: “In short, we’ve supplied everything but the meat, so our customers can focus on their craft. Today, that commitment serves butchers across the province, reaching from the heart of Belfast to the most rural counter where quality and service still matter most.
“This anniversary is also part of a larger story. Scobie & Junor has been adding value to food for more than a century, applying food technology and practical innovation to lift the standards of the UK and Irish meat industry.
“Being part of the Group gives our Mallusk team – and by extension, our customers – access to specialist manufacturing and technologies across the network, including Scotnet elastic meat netting, thermoformed bone protection, and spice-sheet solutions. It’s a family of businesses built to help producers sell better products, more safely, and more profitably.”

The supplier said it held BRCGS AA-grade accreditations spanning food, packaging and storage and distribution, and highlighted its range of services as a reflection of the evolving butchery industry.
The spokesperson continued: “Today’s counter competes with supermarkets, hot deli bars and meal-kit brands. So we’ve continually expanded our ranges – seasonings and marinades inspired by global flavours; rusks and functional ingredients for consistency and yield; and time-saving sauces and glazes that help small teams produce big results.
“Pair those with smart packaging, labelling, and reliable machinery, and the local butcher becomes a genuine food destination, ready for barbecue season, Christmas rushes and every midweek dinner in between.
“But the heartbeat of Mallusk is people. Many of the faces in today’s photos have guided customers through new product ideas, solved last-minute packaging challenges and kept machines running when it mattered.
“Our Belfast team’s local knowledge – paired with Group-wide technical support – means advice is practical, rooted in compliance, and tailored to the realities of running a busy counter or small factory. It’s why we’ve earned the trust of butchers across Northern Ireland for more than 70 years, and why McKinney Road still feels less like a warehouse and more like a partner you can call.”
The company said it was looking ahead and investing in its ingredients and equipment, in order to “strengthen its supply chain resilience”, and thanked customers for helping to “keep Northern Ireland on the culinary map”.
