Gwyn Howells, Master of the Worshipful Company of Butchers (WCB), visited the Meat Management offices for a behind-the-scenes tour of the magazine before being interviewed for the upcoming issue.

WCB Master Gwyn Howells visted the Yandell Media offices in Milton Keynes today (12th November) and took the opportunity to join in with the Meat Management staff working on some pages for the upcoming issue of the magazine.
Editor of Meat Management Gwen Mostyn commented: “It was delightful to host the Master at the Meat Management offices and to give him a flavour of how we put together the magazine each month. With his extensive experience in the industry he had some fascinating insights to share.”
After a tour of the Yandell office, he was interviewed about his role as the 2025/2026 Master of the Worshipful Company of Butchers, when he shared some of the highlights so far and talked about what the Livery company has planned over the coming year, including fundraising events for his chosen charity and the upcoming City Meat Lecture, where a keynote speech from Professor Chris Elliott will feature, and who will talk on the topic of ‘Is there a role for livestock and meat in a modern society?’

This year, The Master’s Charity is Barts Hospital and its pioneering ‘Ovacatch’ research programme, which aims to develop a test for the early detection of ovarian cancer.
Howells commented: “Meat Management is the prime publication for the industry and it has been a pleasure to visit the office and meet the team, some of whom I’ve known for aeons! Working in the industry is all about relationships and the ethos of the WCB is founded on fellowship.”
Publisher of Meat Management magazine Graham Yandell MBE said: “It has been a delight to welcome this year’s Master of the WCB Gwyn Howells to our home in Milton Keynes. The Worshipful Company of Butchers is not just an historic and important part of the UK meat industry, but still has much to offer the modern trade and does much good work in charitable fundraising and education. The WCB and Butchers’ Hall is the traditional home of our industry and our longstanding association with it is highly valued.”
