Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) and youth movement, Urdd Gobaith Cymru formed a partnership to share the benefits of locally produced Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef in cook-along sessions with professional chefs, during Urdd's Eisteddfod.
On Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd June, young people could watch chefs Geoff Miller from Cegin Caribi, Holyhead, and Ben and Meg from Caffi Ffika, Llanrwst, as they present their step-by-step cooking demonstrations. They will prepare three easy to follow dishes, Jerk Welsh Beef burgers, Jerk Welsh Lamb meatballs and Welsh Lamb koftas to feed the family for supper.
The ingredients will be available to download from a number of digital platforms including the Eisteddfod T app, the Urdd Eisteddfod Facebook page (www.facebook.com/eisteddfodurdd) and the Hybu Cig Cymru social media sites. The sessions will also be broadcast on the app and on social media.
HCC’s Owen Roberts said: “The second Eisteddfod T is set to be a huge success again this year and we are pleased to play a part in this celebration of Welsh culture. Wales is associated with its musical and bardic traditions, but is also very well-known for its thriving agriculture sector and sustainable red meat production. The animals are reared in their natural environment and rely on abundant grass and rainfall which adds to its flavour and quality.
“The aim of these cook-along sessions is to show the versatility of red meat and how it can be used to create simple yet tasty meals to suit the family.
“Encourage your children to take part and don’t forget to share their dishes on social media using the hashtag #Eisteddfodt.”
The cook-along broadcasts can be found under ‘Cogurdd’ on the Eisteddfod T app.
