SAMW reveals new presidential team

The Scottish Association of Meat Wholesalers (SAMW) has announced a series of new appointments to its presidential team.

Allan Jess of A.P. Jess Ltd., one of Scotland’s largest family-owned meat groups, has become the new president.

He replaces Alan McNaughton who completed his presidential term at the end of SAMW’s annual conference in Glasgow on 16th April. Jess was previously SAMW president from 2006 to 2009.

The association’s new senior vice president is Frank Clark, the sales director for McIntosh Donald, which is part of 2 Sisters Red Meat.

The new junior vice president is Andy McGowan, supply chain manager of Quality Pork Ltd., which runs the new Brechin pigmeat plant.

The Scottish Association of Meat Wholesalers is a membership organisation, representing a wide range of independent and multi-national companies who between them account for almost 100% of the Scottish red meat processing industry.

Initially founded in the early 1970s, the body which exists today is widely recognised as performing a vital representative role on behalf of Scotland’s red meat businesses.

The association is always led by an elected team of president, senior and junior vice-presidents.
