South of England Butchers celebrate roadshow success

With 220 products from 36 butchers entered into the final leg of the Regional Pork Product Excellence Awards last week, the South of England Roadshow has been hailed a great success.

Overall champion Chris Cripps of Greens of Pangbourne with Keith Fisher from BPEX.

Chris Cripps from Greens of Pangbourne excelled in the ‘Pork Ready Meal’ category, scooping the ‘Overall Champion’ title for the South of England with his ‘Chorizo Stuffed Pork Cutlets’ – a combination of locally-produced pork and homemade chorizo.

If that wasn’t enough, the butcher’s shop, which prides itself on selling the very best quality meat, went on to win a further three ‘Category Champion’ titles and a total of thirteen gold awards: The other three category winning products were:
• ‘Ham and Chicken Pie’ (Speciality Hot Eating Pork Pie category)
• ‘Ham Quiche’ (Speciality Pork Product category)
• ‘Pork Original Sausage’ (Traditional Pork Sausage category)

Chris Cripps of Greens of Pangbourne said: “Receiving gold awards for all our pork products on the day was just brilliant, but to go on to triumph in four categories and scoop the ‘Overall Champion title was incredible!”
