Awards night is to be major industry highlight

One of the major highlights of the industry calendar is almost upon us as the final countdown to the Meat Management Industry Awards 2019 enters its final phase.

Plans for the 2019 Meat Management Industry Awards presentation and ceremony  are now getting their finishing touches. All products have been judged and votes counted, with the results eagerly awaited.

The big night is taking place on 27th June at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, where major industry players and organisations will be celebrating their peers’ achievements and innovations at the prestigious annual black-tie dinner.

Winning products were entered in ten categories and evaluated based on the exacting criteria used every year. This year the judging team and home economists had almost 1,000 products to get through, over a very busy few days at The Regional Food Academy test kitchens, based at Harper Adams University in Shropshire.

In addition to product entries, reader voting was at record levels and there will be a series of categories presented, including the industry’s Excellence Award, which will go to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution the UK meat industry.

Product quality

Chief judge of the MM Awards and CEO of the Institute of Meat Keith Fisher was enthusiastic about the standard of products in the mix: “As always, the Meat Management Awards set a benchmark for products entered, coming in from a myriad of businesses. These arrive from every corner of the meat industry,” he said.

“As is usual the standards are very high and competition is stiff, so the eventual winners really can feel that their products are top drawer and something to shout about. We judge to exacting and consistent standards, and once again we have a brilliant Awards night in prospect.”

Publisher of Meat Management magazine, Graham Yandell, added: “The Meat Management Meat Industry Awards is the top accolade everyone wants to win in our particular food sector and we are really delighted with the level of participation again this year. We are set for a great night on 27th June with a first-class dinner and top entertainment including an after party, so that everyone can celebrate in style.”
