Karro Food Group acquires cooked meat manufacturer TS Bloor & Sons

British pork supplier Karro Food Group has acquired the Leicestershire cooked meats firm, TS Bloor & Sons, for an undisclosed sum.

Karro Food Group’s Malton site.

North Yorkshire-based Karro said the sale was a “highly strategic move” and it plans to use TS Bloor’s skills and expertise along with its supply of pigs.

Di Walker, executive chair of Karro, a leading supplier of British pork to the retail, trade and foodservice industries, said: “TS Bloor & Sons has an outstanding reputation in the market, led by managing director Charles Bloor.

“The acquisition is a highly strategic move for Karro Food Group as we look to bring TS Bloor’s skills & artisan knowledge together with the supply of our own pigs from high welfare, RSPCA assured farms.

“We welcome Charles and his dedicated team to Karro and look forward to working with them to further develop the business.”

TS Bloor & Sons has been established for more than 100 years, and offers a range of matured, traditionally crafted hams which are roasted, steamed or simmered in open water.

Following a £6.5m investment in the factory in Leicestershire, the company currently cooks up to 13,000 hams a week in British Retail Consortium approved premises.

Charles Bloor, managing director of TS Bloor, commented on the acquisition: “It is exciting to join forces with a market leader for the next step in the growth story at TS Bloor.

“As well as our existing range we are looking forward to offering new products to our customers through the combination of Karro’s high welfare pork supply and 130 year old Wiltshire brine with our newly invested facilities. This will only serve to strengthen our position in the market place.”
