The Livestock and Meat Commission (LMC) has encouraged women from across the agricultural industry to sign up to its forthcoming Women in Agri Leadership Programme.
LMC is a part of the Women in Agriculture (WIA) Taskforce, which is chaired by the Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) and supported by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA).
As part of a partnership initiative developed by the WIA Taskforce, the programme will roll out across four regional cohorts this autumn. LMC said it would drive collaborative action to support women working within the agricultural sector alongside industry organisations, Government and education providers.
The course will run for eight weeks and will be open to up to 20 women in each area. It will be delivered through four regional cohorts across Northern Ireland: Antrim, Cookstown, Enniskillen and Banbridge.

Frances Titterington, LMC head of sustainability, represents the Commission on the WIA Taskforce. Encouraging women to take the opportunity to develop their skills, build confidence and connect with others within the industry, she commented: “This leadership course designed by the WIA Taskforce aims to provide a practical and supportive eight-week programme for women working within the agricultural sector.
“Women play an important role in furthering our industry and it is important that they are equipped with the skills and confidence to take on roles available to them.”
