The UK Lions board has unveiled the squad selected to represent Great Britain at the World Butchers’ Challenge 2028, which will take place in Australia.

The World Butchers’ Challenge will take place in early 2028 in Australia, after the Australian Meat Industry Council (AMIC) was appointed the official host organisation following a competitive bidding process. It will be the WBC’s 10th anniversary event.

The UK squad was said to have been chosen for their “exceptional skill, consistency and drive”, and held their initial squad meet-up on Sunday 17th May 2026 at Ringrose Farm in Broughton Astley.
The meet-up included clay pigeon shooting, team bonding activities and a BBQ, as well as initial introductions among team members.
Competing both nationally and internationally, the UK Lions will engage the public through live demonstrations and events, and produce regular content to showcase the craft of butchery and the team’s journey to Australia 2028.
