Workers at the Pilgrim’s Europe Enniskillen site are set to undergo strike action for two weeks over pay conditions.
Around 130 Unite the Union members employed by Pilgrim’s Europe have served notice of the strike, as employees seek a pay increase and changes to the payment conditions of breaks.
Notice was served informing Pilgrim’s Europe that the strike would commence from 6.30am on Monday 17th August. The decision was made after a vote by Pilgrim’s Europe workers in early August.
The union said workers will have “the full and continuing support of Unite” throughout the strike process.
Greg O’Kane, Unite regional officer, commented: “Our members are determined to secure an improved pay deal offering real protection from the cost-of-living crisis and ending the current inequality around paid breaks. They are set to escalate their strike to two weeks - management needs to return to the table with an offer meeting our members’ pay expectations to resolve this dispute.”
Pilgrim’s Europe makes pay offer
Speaking to journalists, Pilgrim’s Europe said: “We have made a pay offer above inflation and remain committed to constructive discussions with the Union. Our priority is ensuring all employees feel safe and respected throughout this period while we continue to focus on serving our customers and supporting our people.”
