Biotech natural ingredients business, Prosur, has appointed Rob Nugent to manage the UK and Ireland business, as the company continues to expand.
Based in the UK, Rob, who is a well-known figure in the meat industry offers over 30 years operational and technical experience in the sector including Direct Table, Pilgrim's, Sainsbury's and Marks and Spencer. Rob is also a past chairman of the PTF. He will work alongside James Allred who is based in Spain.
Global Business director, Simon Claessens, commented: “This is a very exciting time for our business and bringing Rob into our team is a sign of our commitment to supporting the UK and Irish meat industry.
“Manufacturers continue to explore ways of improving quality and consumer appreciation without necessarily relying on undesired additives and Prosur is the go-to business to help them achieve this.
“We are delighted to have Rob on board, and he will be able to give the hands-on practical and technical expertise which is so important when adapting to working with new technologies and processing, as well as bringing market insights back to our food scientists.”
In what is a busy time for the business, Prosur has become members of the British Meat Processors Association where Rob will attend the LTAC committee, which he chaired previously. Prosur is also the category partner for the Best Bacon Product at this year's Meat Management Industry Awards.
Rob added: “We enable food manufacturers to make bacon without nitrites and supporting this category is a natural fit for us. We help manufacturers offer a choice to meet the demands of the increasingly discerning bacon consumer and I'm really excited to apply my experience and knowledge and help them on their journey.”
