Alongside AIMS (Association of Independent Meat Suppliers) and Hybu Cig Cymru - Meat Promotion Wales, Atlantic Service Company, the Newport-based manufacturer of steel-based products for the food industry, has agreed a deal to become a headline sponsor to support Craft Butchery Team Wales’ bid to become world champions at the World Butchers’ Challenge.
The team is competing in the World Butchers’ Challenge in Sacramento, USA, in September and will be supported with products from the global exporter.
Managing director, Huw James, believes the partnership with the Welsh team is an ideal platform to give something back to the company’s customer base: “The partnership is one we’ve been working on for a long time as it’s a natural fit for us and the team,” he said. “We are proud to service so many independent butchers across Britain, including many in Wales and are delighted to be able to support this exciting young team. We wish them every success in Sacramento.
“The fact they’ll be using our products, manufactured right here in Wales, is a great boost for our industry and everyone involved."
Chris Jones, from Craft Butchery Team Wales, said: “It’s fantastic news for the team to secure backing from a well-renowned Welsh business such as Atlantic Service Company.
“We are very grateful for the support which is a massive boost for our campaign.”
The recently formed team, which is managed by retired butcher and experienced competition judge Steve Vaughan from Penyffordd, is a division of the Culinary Association of Wales.
Team captain, Peter Rushforth from Innovative Food Ingredients, Lytham St Annes, is joined by Craig Holly, from Chris Hayman Butchers, Maesycymer, Hengoed, Tommy Jones from Jones Brothers, Wrexham, Matt Edwards, a lecturer at Coleg Cambria, Connah’s Quay, Dan Raftery from Randall Parker Foods, Llanidloes, Liam Lewis from The Hollies Farm Shop, Tarporley and Ben Roberts from M. E. Evans Butchers, Overton.
