All roads lead to the Royal Lancaster London this coming November when the much anticipated Women In Meat Industry Awards 2023 ceremony will reveal all 12 category winners, including this year’s overall Meat Businesswoman of the Year.
The Women In Meat Industry Awards are an annual celebration of the women working within - and helping to shape the future of - the British and Irish meat industries.
Every year a panel of industry experts meets to decide the winner of the Meat Businesswoman of the Year Award. Each of this year's category winners (with the exception of The Rising Star Award) are considered for the prestigious title.
As part of the judging process, the panel considers the contribution that each category winner has made within their respective field and the positive impact that they have had on the wider industry.
Publisher of Meat Management and chair of the judging panel Graham Yandell added: “The judging was a very enjoyable and rewarding experience and choosing an overall winner was far from easy. All the finalists and the category winners are great ambassadors for our industry and the contribution made by women across the various industry sectors.”
In the running for the top spot are the winners of each of these categories:
- Meat Businesswoman Award – Foodservice (catering butcher)
- Meat Businesswoman Award – Independent Retailing
- Meat Businesswoman Award – Multiple Retailing
- Meat Businesswoman Award – Manufacturing / Processing
- Meat Businesswoman Award – Craft Butchery
- Meat Businesswoman Award – Trade Body
- Meat Businesswoman Award – Wholesaling
- Meat Businesswoman Award – Poultry
- Meat Businesswoman Award – Training & Education
- Meat Businesswoman Award – Industry Supplier
Category winners are decided by votes cast by readers of Meat Management magazine and colleagues within the industry. This year over 11,000 votes were cast as part of the programme.
A separate category for young up-and-coming women in the industry – The Rising Star Award – will also feature during the awards celebrations.
All roads lead to London
The 2023 event will be hosted this year at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London. For over 50 years Royal Lancaster London has been renowned as one of Europe’s leading event venues.
The black-tie dinner and awards ceremony will kick off with a drinks reception, where guests will have the opportunity to catch up and have a drink before being invited into the main hall for dinner.
Following their meal, attendees will hear from Meat Magazine publisher Graham Yandell MBE and journalist Jennie Bond, who will announce this year's Meat Businesswoman Award recipients.
Jennie spoke to Meat Management about all things food and femininity, ahead of the WIMIA ceremony in November. The full interview can be found here.
