The UK meat industry will gather at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London tonight to celebrate the success of women within the sector.
Hosted by royal correspondent, broadcaster and journalist Jennie Bond, the sell-out awards are a celebration of the women working within - and helping to shape the future of - the British and Irish meat industries.
The 2023 event will be hosted this year at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London. For over 50 years Royal Lancaster London
has been renowned as one of Europe’s leading event venues.
Kicking off with a convivial drinks reception, the evening offers guests a chance to catch up and network. The Westbourne Suite at the Royal Lancaster Hotel is the location for the drinks reception and the black-tie dinner, prior to the much anticipated awards ceremony. There will also be an after-party to celebrate and dance the night away.
As part of the ceremony, 12 prestigious awards will be presented to this year's winners spanning butchery, retailing and foodservice.
Joanna Thomson, editor of Meat Management magazine, who organised the awards, said: "The Women In Meat Industry Awards are a wonderful initiative that receive an outstanding amount of support from the meat sector every year.
"It's important that women have the opportunity to be celebrated for their work, and with over 11,000 votes this year it's clear to see that people are eager for their friends and colleagues to be recognised for what they do.
"The awards really capture the imagination of the industry, and I think the personal nature of each Meat Businesswoman award is a fantastic means of rewarding individual achievement and talent. I've heard so many women say, with great modesty, that they don't feel like they deserve an award of this kind - and they absolutely do! That's why it is such a pleasure to be part of an awards programme that champions the work of women within the industry."
This evening, the awards will be presented to the winners of 11 categories, plus the prestigious overall Meat Businesswoman of the Year Award.
Results from tonight's ceremony will be posted live on social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter) - to receive updates, follow @WIMIAwards.
