Women in Meat Industry Awards 2020 smashes voting record before poll closes

More than 8,000 votes have already been registered for this year’s Women in Meat Industry Awards, a new record for the initiative. Readers of Meat Management now have until the forthcoming Bank Holiday weekend to register their vote at womeninmeatawards.com/vote/.

Voting opened on the 29th July and met with an immediate response as Meat Management readers and others from the wider industry starting voting in droves. With the final deadline pending, those who have not voted yet can do so for one of the finalists nominated across the following nine categories:

Categories

Meat Businesswoman Award – Craft Butchery
Meat Businesswoman Award – Foodservice
Meat Businesswoman Award – Industry Supplier
Meat Businesswoman Award – Manufacturing/Processing
Meat Businesswoman Award – Retailing
Meat Businesswoman Award – Trade Body
Meat Businesswoman Award – Training and Education
Meat Businesswoman Award – Wholesaling
The Rising Star Award

Graham Yandell, publisher of Meat Management magazine, which organises the Awards, said: “Frankly this is a phenomenon. The response is incredible. The fact we have been able to smash last year’s voting record in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic is brilliant and there is still time left for people to vote and add to their choice to the thousands from across the industry who have already picked their own choice of winner.

“All of the categories have been hotly contested, and we have some incredibly talented people as finalist this year, which is a testament to all the hard work and effort that has been contributed by so many women prior to and over the past twelve months.

“We are now looking forward to an awards ceremony that will recognise the immense role women play in making this industry what it is. We will be confirming arrangements for this  very soon as we take account of how best to bring people together safely and within all guidelines. I can reveal that the event itself will have a change of date and venue, but we are confident that all arrangements we are planning will work well.”

Pam Brook, editor of Meat Management magazine, added: “The response this year has been truly remarkable. It was great to initially see a swathe of nominations for all of the categories and having now eclipsed the voting record from last year it is clear that the Women In Meat Industry Awards goes from strength to strength. I would like to thank everyone who has participated, it really is such a pleasure to be involved.”

Pam concluded: “If you still haven’t registered your vote, time is running out. Colleagues, friends, customers, suppliers and everyone across the industry is encouraged to have their say and to cast a vote before the deadline this coming weekend.”
