Established in 1970 by Sardar Ali Malik and passed down to his son Wali, Malik Butchers is now run by Sardar’s grandson Manny, with Manny’s brother Adnaan also running the business.

The business has amassed more than 1.6 million likes on social media platform TikTok as its nearly 67,000 followers tune in for videos about halal meat and how a halal butcher shop can become a regular part of the consumer routine.

Speaking to Meat Management, owner Manny Malik commented: “Our mission is to raise standards in the halal meat industry and show how much more a butchers can offer. Alongside our meat counter, we have a deli and a street food stall serving hot food. We source premium cuts from around the world and make our own handcrafted sausages and cured meats. We’ve built the brand around our personalities as much as our products, with more than 100,000 followers across our social platforms.”

As a halal butcher, Malik Butchers does not offer pork products, but instead creates a range of chicken, beef and lamb sausages to satisfy customer cravings. According to Manny, the chicken range is the most popular, and is made using chicken thigh to give the sausage the juicy texture that people would expect from a traditional butcher’s sausage.

Manny continued: “Our bestseller is the Classic Chicken Sausage. It’s popular with Muslim and non-Muslim customers alike, and some have told us they’d choose it over a traditional pork sausage purely for the taste. My personal favourites are the Chorizo and the Red Onion & Sage.”

What are consumers looking for?

For Malik Butchers, more consumers are looking for halal sausages, and they are expecting increasingly higher quality. Manny continued: “For many British Muslims who grew up in the UK, sausages are a familiar part of the food culture. The fact that they were traditionally made with pork no longer puts people off the idea, because they can now enjoy halal versions made with chicken, beef or lamb.

“Customers are also more discerning. They want good meat, a proper sausage texture and flavours made with care. That’s a big part of why we started making our own.”

Looking to the future, the business expects continued growth in both demand and quality, with Manny stating: “At home, customers want halal sausages that taste great. In hospitality, we’re seeing more restaurants and takeaways add breakfast and brunch to their menus, creating a real need for a good halal sausage.

“That demand is coming from Muslim-owned businesses, but also from businesses that want to welcome a wider range of customers. People are paying closer attention to ingredients and nutrition, too, so I expect chicken sausages to keep growing in popularity. The market has plenty of room to develop, and we want Malik Butchers to be at the forefront of it.”

To celebrate UK Sausage Week, the butchers has launched four new chicken sausage flavours: Fiery Hot Chilli, Sweet Chilli, Smoky Paprika and Peri-Peri, and customers will be able to redeem 10% off all online sausage orders of 1kg or more during the week.

UK Sausage Week runs from Monday 26th October to Sunday 1st November 2026. Let us know what your business is up to by tagging UK Sausage Week on social media or emailing editorial@meatmanagement.com.
