Judging for the 2025 UK Sausage Week competition has concluded, with organisers reporting a record entry and an exceptionally high standard.
Participants will now have to wait until the celebration lunch and awards ceremony on 27th October at Butchers’ Hall in London to find out who will be taking the top spots across 11 categories, including who will be crowned UK Supreme Sausage Champion.
A shortlist of finalists will be published in September once the judging papers have been properly evaluated and ranked in order. The UK Supreme Sausage Champion will be chosen from one of ten category winners.
Publisher of Meat Management magazine, which organises and supports UK Sausage Week, Graham Yandell MBE said: “We will have the results finalised soon and I know we shall have some worthy winners. The attention then turns to the key date of 27th October when the awards luncheon at Butchers’ Hall, London will be the backdrop for announcing the 2025 winners.”
A director of the Institute of Meat (IoM), head judge Keith Fisher added: “We have tasted and evaluated some exceptional products during the judging process and our team was particularly impressed by the care and attention to detail that manufacturers and smaller retailers have been exhibiting through the creation, packaging and branding of their sausages.”
Judge Viv Harvey, who also represents the IoM added: “A traditional product like the sausage is a well-loved classic, and extremely important to the industry. It is both excellent and reassuring to see such a wide range of entries and engagement ahead of this year’s UK Sausage Week. It was a real pleasure to participate again this year.”
