Farming Minister to address 10th EBLEX Export Conference

Opportunities and challenges for UK exports will next month be outlined by Food and Farming Minister George Eustice at a major industry event.

Mr Eustice will open the 10th annual EBLEX Export Conference, which is free to levy payers, at Stoneleigh Park on Wednesday, 25th June. Presentations are also due to be given on Asian premium meat retailing by Victoria Santini, Head of Asia for the Institute of Grocery Distribution, and the effectiveness of beef marketing by Jan Lawrence, chief executive of Standard Fleisch.

EBLEX export manager Jean-Pierre Garnier will examine the next steps for UK meat exports, while Rémi Fourrier, EBLEX export manager in France, will provide an insight into UK meat’s position in the French market.

The conference is expected to attract around 120 delegates, including those already exporting and those thinking of doing so, with an opportunity to network over lunch and discuss key issues with other industry stakeholders and experts from EBLEX’s team.

Jean-Pierre said: “We are delighted that the Minister is joining us at what has grown over the last decade to become a key fixture in the industry calendar. It will give delegates a valuable insight into the work we do to grow exports further and how we can tackle the challenges that lie ahead, such as overcoming barriers to market access.

“Driving export growth is one of the cornerstones of EBLEX’s strategy. By working in collaboration with Defra, UKTI and other industry stakeholders, we have helped gain access to 101 markets for lamb and 92 for beef and considerably increased the value of meat exports over the last few years. The Minister’s support underpins not only what we have helped achieve for the industry to date, but also the future export ambitions that we hope to bring to fruition.”
