York butcher secures rosette winners at Skipton Auction Mart
York area farmer and butcher Anthony Swales went home with both red rosette winners at Skipton Auction Mart’s annual spring show and sale of young feeding bulls.
Swales paid £1,270 for the first prize ten-months or under bull, a home-bred British Blue-cross from Yorkshire Dales farmers John and Gill Huck, of Hubberholme. He paid £1,030 for the first prize ten to 12-month-old bull, another British Blue-cross from Jeff Walker, of Dunsop Bridge.
Swales made 15 acquisitions in total at the show and all will be further fattened on the Swales’ family farm in Melbourne. They will then be available at Knavesmire Butchers shop in Albermarle Road, York as roasts, steaks, burgers, sausages and kebabs ready for the summer barbeque season.
