AHDB calls for pig producer and independent member

The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) is looking for a pig producer and an independent member to join the board of AHDB Pork.

The producer must be a levy payer in order to ensure the views of other producers are heard. They must also help steer the strategy for the sector.

The role is being advertised at an important and pivotal time in the industry, against the repercussions of Brexit, and the backdrop of global price volatility, technological innovation and changing habits of British shoppers.

Candidates for the roles must demonstrate a good working knowledge of the sector and have experience of developing and implementing strategy. The positions will also involve attendance at board meetings and two days per month commitment to the board.

The applicants that are successful will become members of AHDB in April next year.

AHDB is funded by the collection of statutory financial levies, which are used to carry out research and development, market intelligence, knowledge transfer, marketing and export activities to support the sectors to become world class.

The board supports: the meat and livestock industry in England; horticulture, milk and potatoes in Great Britain; and cereals and oilseeds in the UK.

AHDB is also looking for a processor to join the beef and lamb board.
