Dawn Meats rumoured to be in talks to buy Dunbia
Rumours that Dawn Meats is looking to take over Dunbia are currently circulating in the meat industry and national press.
Dunbia has been up for sale since December 2015.
It is believed that the Irish food company is in talks with Dunbia and is close to making an offer for the company. It is thought that discussions have been ongoing for around six months.
However, both companies have declined to comment on the rumours, with Dawn Meats stating its policy is “not to comment on market rumours or speculation”.
Dunbia, headquartered in County Tyrone, is one of Northern Ireland’s largest meat firms. The company currently trades in 36 countries, employing 4,000 staff.
The firm announced that the business is up for sale back in December 2015. Since then, many rumours have circulated – including the suggestion that 2 Sisters Food Group was interested in making an offer. In November 2016, Cranswick acquired the whole of the issued share of capital of Dunbia Ballymena, one of the company’s pork processing sites.
Dawn Meats supplies a range of beef and lamb carcases and primal cuts throughout the continent. It is part of the Arrow Group and employs 3,300 people.
