Discounts and offers behind fresh meat purchasing

New research from nutrition brand www.gonutrition.com suggests that many consumers do not purchase fresh meat without an incentive, such as a discount or offer.

The participants were also asked to state their main reasons behind why they never purchased everyday goods such as fresh meat without a discount or offer applied. 42% said that they felt ‘everything was overpriced’ so they waited until they could save or get more for their money in some way. 27% said that it was due to the fact that discounts and offers were ‘so widely available’ that they couldn’t help but take advantage of them.

Respondents were also asked if they regularly took advantage of items that were on offer or discounted, with the vast majority (89%) admitting that they did so at least once a week, and more than a third (34%) stating they bought discounted items and/or those on offer every time they went shopping.

The study also showed that 26% of respondents would only eat out at restaurants if an offer was available, whilst 47% would only order a takeaway if they could receive a discount or offer.

Alcohol (67%) was the most common product which participants said they would only buy with an offer or discount. This was followed by fresh meat, with holidays following closely behind (51%).
