NCB has new managing director

National Craft Butchers (NCB) has appointed Eleanor O’Brien as its managing director. Eleanor joined the membership team at NCB in 2018.

Eleanor O’Brien appointed NCB managing director.

Since joining National Craft Butchers NCB said she has become well known and well respected by both members and colleagues alike. Spearheading NCB’s highly praised Covid response and introducing NCB’s member Zoom meetings as a key benefit led to her winning the Woman in Meat Awards Trade Body category in 2021.

When looking to modernise and restructure NCB in January 2022 Eleanor was the Executive Council’s first choice for acting managing director. After a year, during which Eleanor managed the re-branding of NCB, including launching their new website, and introduced new membership benefits the organisation decided it was the natural decision to make that appointment permanent.

Commenting on the appointment, NCB president, George Debman, said: “Eleanor’s passion and dedication to our members throughout her time at NCB have been evident every day and at a time when our industry needs to work together, we are delighted to make this appointment, and are confident that NCB will continue to grow under her leadership.”

NCB legislation director John Mettrick added: “Our organisation has been representing butchers for one hundred and thirty four years. We aim to ensure that NCB continue to provide timely and relevant support to our industry for many years to come. I’m confident that Eleanor will be a real asset in ensuring we achieve that aim.”
