Protestors arrested at Norwich Cranswick facility

Seven protesters were reportedly arrested following an incident at pork producer Cranswick’s Watton facility on Wednesday 3rd April.

The incident occurred at the facility on Brandon Road, Watton. According to Norfolk police, five men and two women were arrested in connection with the incident following reports that the protestors had gained entry to the facility at 6:07am.

A post on social media website ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) from Wednesday 3rd April stated: “Since around 6am this morning we’ve been occupying the top of an active pig gas chamber owned by Cranswick country foods… help us share the truth and live vegan!”

Norfolk Police reported that six of those arrested were under suspicion of aggravated trespass, with the seventh arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit aggravated trespass. The Norfolk Police website stated: “All seven people have been taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning where they remain.”

Cranswick said it was “an ongoing criminal incident” and thus is “unable to comment at this stage”.
