Addy’s Butchers new shop extension boosts business

A new £160,000 extension that has doubled the retail area of West Yorkshire butcher J Brindon Addy’s shop in Hade Edge, near Holmfirth, is boosting business.

Mr Addy reports that the project, undertaken during the award-winning shop’s landmark 21st anniversary year, has gone down well with both existing and new customers.

He comments: “ Business is running above the budget we predicted and one thing’s for certain – we have now changed from being a small butcher to a small food hall.”

The scheme has allowed Addy’s to both extend and more fecctively display its core meat-related and home-made ready-meal ranges, and also introduce new fresh and frozen food lines, such as fish, vegetables and ice creams.

“As a direct result, we are now supporting more local suppliers and producers, which provides a timely boost to the local economy,” adds Mr Addy.

He remains national chairman of the Butchers Q Guild, which represents over 100 elite butchers from the Scottish Highlands down to Cornwall.
