The Calder Grove business has launched its own speciality barbecue product, Churrasco Chicken, to tempt the tastebuds of al fresco soccer fans across the region while World Cup fever reigns.

Churrasco is a Portuguese and Spanish term that generally refers to beef or grilled meat, including chicken, specifically cut thinly for cooking quickly over BBQ coals. In Brazil, the barbecue is known as a ‘churrasqueira.’

Blacker Hall Farm Shop director Cheryl Garthwaite explained: “Our own Churrasco Chicken is similarly cut thinly and can be cooked quickly in around five minutes. Our goal has been to adopt some of the key flavours typical of South America, with a hint of warm spices, garlic and roasted onion.

“The marinade we use keeps the meat really juicy and it’s great for grilling and pan-frying, but especially over charcoal to give the most authentic taste. A twist of lemon and lime really sets this off and it can served in a sandwich, with salad or simply some crusty bread.”
