Great Yorkshire Competition to be held in Bradford

The Great Yorkshire Pork Pie, Sausage & Products Competition will be staged at the Cedar Court Hotel in Bradford on Sunday 30th October.

Organised by the Confederation of Yorkshire Butchers Councils’ (CYBC), the 2016 competition will be the 28th annual Great Yorkshire Competition.

Last year the competition was opened out to entrants from across the UK for the first time, and this innovation will be continued in 2016 for the vast majority of classes.

The competition will feature pork pie, sausage, black pudding and beef burger classes, with each to be open to all UK butchers, farm shops and bakers who make products on their own premises.
Within the pork pie and sausage classes, supreme and reserve supreme champions will be crowned.

The organisers also hope to reintroduce a ‘New Kid on the Block’ class, as well as a new category for the ‘Best in Yorkshire’. Both these classes would be open to White Rose entrants only.

Sheffield pork butcher Konrad Kempka, now into his second term as CYBC president, will host the President’s Dinner Dance, on Saturday 29th October.
