Robertson’s Fine Foods secures bacon deal with Aldi

Pork processor, Robertson’s Fine Foods from Ardrossan has agreed a deal to supply its Ayrshire quality assured bacon to Aldi stores across Scotland.

Aldi Specially Selected Scottish Pork bacon is launched with Cabinet Secretary Richard Lochhead with (LtoR) Marion MacCormick and Kirsty Fox from Aldi and QMS Chairman Jim McLaren.

Produced under the Specially Selected Pork scheme the bacon is now available across Aldi’s 60 Scottish stores under the supermarket’s MacAulays brand.

Business development manager at Robertson’s Fine Foods, Barry Robertson said: “To have our Ayrshire bacon as a permanent fixture on Aldi’s shelves is a major coup for us. We pride ourselves on producing the best quality bacon in the country and to have that recognised by Aldi and its customers really confirms that.”

Jim McLaren, chairman of Quality Meat Scotland, said: “[This] announcement sends a very positive signal to the Scottish pig industry and helps to boost awareness of our industry’s excellent welfare credentials as well as reflecting increasing consumer demand for evidence of strong animal welfare.”
