Staff from Tulip’s Bugle plant have been helping youngsters make a wish with a parachute jump, raising over £800.

Tulip Ltd has partnered with Make-A-Wish® and set itself an ambitious target to raise £100,000 over the next two years to help the charity grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.

Group HR Director Kirsty Wilkins explains: “Thanks to the commitment and generosity of colleagues from across the Tulip business we have previously had great success in raising money for a number of different charities so when it came to choosing a new cause we decided to let our employees decide who we should support.

“Make-A-Wish was the overwhelming choice, it does some amazing work that makes a real difference to the lives of children, young people and their families by giving them an opportunity to take a step back from reality and enjoy an experience of a lifetime.

“We have set ourselves an ambitious target and hope to raise enough to grant one wish a month. We have already got off to a great start with a number of different fundraising activities taking place across the Tulip business and we look forward to hearing about the wishes Make-A-Wish will grant.

“I know that all of our sites around the country will continue to hold events throughout the year, such as our intrepid parachute duo Georgina Windley and Amy Mundy from Bugle, who raised over £800 and with the additional support generated through our new My Tulip Lotto initiative, which is a monthly lottery type draw open to all Tulip employees, I am confident we will get some real momentum behind the fundraising.

Make-A-Wish hopes to grant around 900 wishes this year. Wishes range from being a princess for the day or meeting a hero, to going on a once-in-a-lifetime family holiday. Recently Make-A-Wish arranged for a 15 year old young lady who is fighting a congenital heart condition, to meet her screen idol Helena Bonham Carter, an eight year old boy who is undergoing chemotherapy, following surgery to remove a brain tumour, to play tennis with Andy Murray and a three year old boy, born with a congenital heart condition, to fly like Superman!

Commenting on Tulip’s fundraising, Angela Banfield, Account Manager at Make-A-Wish added: “We would like to say a very big thank you to all at Tulip for raising over £5,000 so far for Make-A-Wish.

“This is a fantastic start to our partnership and will enable us to continue granting wishes to seriously-ill children and their families.”

And having raised tens of thousands of pounds for the Variety Club over recent years the team at Tulip are confident that they will be able to enjoy the same level of fundraising success for Make-A-Wish and are looking forward to helping grant more magical wishes over the months ahead.
