Ladies in Pigs looking for new chairperson
Ladies in Pigs (LIPS) is searching for a new chairperson, as Sue Woodall, who has been chairwoman for ten years, has decided to step down.

The chair’s role is described as varied and includes all aspects of admin, as well as coordinating staff for events, attending executive meetings twice a year and representing LIPS at other industry meetings, such as the National Pig Association events.
LIPS has pointed out that without a new chair, the organisation “may have to fold”.
Woodall commented: “I think the time is right to step aside and let someone else take over.
Someone who has a different skills set to mine and can take the organisation in a different direction.
“No-one wants LIPS to disappear, not the members nor the pig industry. We need people to come forward – not just a chairperson but we also need new members who are keen and enthusiastic about coming along to help us at events.”
LIPS was founded in 1991 by a group of women who wanted to promote the pig industry and has around 250 members nationwide.
It is sponsored mainly by AHDB pork and allied industry companies.
The group’s key aim is to promote British Pig meat, giving innovative ideas and to educate consumers about the Red Tractor.
The ladies do this by producing recipes, going to events throughout the country, giving cookery demonstrations and talks.
They have extended their promotional campaigns to schools and colleges and now also have involvement in Education Days.
The chairman’s position is currently being advertised and is expected to start from March 2018.
New members are also needed – membership costs £10 a year with the opportunity to help at events and get paid, plus expenses and a meal allowance.
